EUGENE ATWOOD AWARD - NOMINATION PROCESS
Principals and/or Guidance Counselors from each New London County high school recommend one student in their senior year to be nominated for the Eugene Atwood Academic Award. This award is for academic excellence. The process requires a student essay along with the Principal/Guidance Counselor nomination. Award recipients are chosen at the discretion of the Board of Trustees and dependent of the amount of funding available per year which may range from $250 - $5000.
A student may ask their Principal/Guidance Counselor to nominate them, or, a Principal/Guidance Counselor will make a selection and recommendation from the graduating class, prior to graduation, and submit a nomination for that student to the Eugene Atwood Fund for review by February 28th. The nomination is at the discretion of the Principal/Guidance Counselor. Funds will be distributed directly to the student by July 1st to the student address as provided by the Principal/Guidance Counselor.
We accept applications yearly beginning on January 1st with a deadline of February 28th.
